Kielings wilde Welt - Wasserparadiese

We were proud to support the international production of ZDF Terra X's acclaimed wildlife documentary series Kielings wilde Welt during their latest shoot in Nusa Penida, Indonesia. This episode, titled "Wasserparadiese" ("Water Paradises"), follows filmmaker Andreas Kieling as he explores how climate change is impacting aquatic ecosystems around the world.

A Climate-Conscious Production Approach

As a local film fixer team in Indonesia, we worked closely with the Viking Film crew to ensure a climate-friendly production. Rather than flying in an international team, we provided locally-based specialists, including an underwater director of photography, A licensed drone pilot, A multilingual film fixer, Dive crew, boat logistics, and local safety coordinators. By relying on local expertise, the production significantly reduced carbon emissions while supporting the regional film industry. This environmentally conscious approach is not only better for the planet — it also enables a more authentic, cost-efficient, and smoother workflow on location.

Filming the Mola Mola in Nusa Penida

The highlight of the Indonesia shoot was capturing the rare Mola Mola (sunfish), the world’s largest bony fish, in the open waters around Nusa Penida. For Andreas Kieling, diving with this incredible species was a childhood dream come true — and we were proud to make it happen.

From securing marine permits to organizing transportation, boats, and safety support, we ensured that the entire shoot went smoothly despite the challenges of working in remote marine environments — safely, legally, and efficiently.

“Wasserparadiese” is a journey through some of the world’s most beautiful and vulnerable marine habitats — from Commerson’s dolphins in the Falklands to Manta rays in the Maldives and pink river dolphins in the Amazon. The Indonesian segment shows the breathtaking underwater world of Bali’s coastline, and how it's affected by climate change.
